I recently took the Medical Espanol workshop with Ronda and was very happy with all the information we covered and felt like I came away with a wealth of knowledge. It was a very small class so I got lots of individualized attention. The take home materials are an extra bonus - flash cards, diagrams, and lots of suggestions on how to practice-eh *practicar* on your own. I did have the advantage of some years of Spanish in school and I felt that this workshop was a great combination of helping me brush up on what I knew from the past and helping me stretch to learn the new phrases and vocabulary that will be most useful in the health care field where I now work. Ronda is a great teacher and easy to converse with with and the room is filled with wonderful colorful Latin American art that will tempt you to travel and explore more of the various cultures. Cinco estrellas!

Weekend En Espanol is an extraordinary spot to learn Spanish just as an incredible spot to improve your Spanish.

This is a great Spanish school with fabulous teachers!

I signed up for a four-workshop package with Ronda and had my first class last Sunday. I can't say enough good things about Ronda's hospitality, charming school room with many visual aids on the walls (This really helps visual learners!), and her fun yet effective teaching techniques. She is experienced and she knows what works. The six hours just flew by. We received some printed material including 400 common verbs.....so useful. Lunch and snacks were delicious too.

If you have any remote interest in learning Spanish, or brushing up on what you already know, run, don't walk, to Weekend En Espanol!

I highly recommend Ronda. I needed to brush up on my Spanish and I'm very glad that I went to Weekend en Espanol. Ronda asked my goals and created great lessons to help me achieve them. In addition to lessons, Ronda is fun to practice Spanish conversation with and I always enjoyed my classes. I definitely plan to continue classes here in the future!

    Great!
Have tried other schools and programs, but never got too far until I took classes here. Ronda is an excellent teacher.

I've also gone to Oaxaca, MX for her immersion weeks - absolutely wonderful! Actually, I was so pleased that I went for an additional 2 weeks.

If you want to learn Spanish - this is the place!!

Aside from online and CD language lessons, i don't see how one can possibly learn as much in as little time for any less...
I took 4 private lessons before heading to S America last spring, i learned the basics and certainly boosted my confidence enough to risk speaking the language when i needed it.
Now i have just gone back to this classroom for a Sunday group class with 4 other adults, focusing on irregular verbs. Lots of fun and challenging as well. Now all i have to do is practice, practice , practice...Of course Rhonda has thought about that too, as she offers trips to Oaxaca for her famous semana en espagnol--where only Spanish is spoken! Maybe next year-

Looking for a friendly, safe space to improve your Spanish language skills, verbal and written? Look no further! Ronda Calef manages to make learning fun and stimulating at all levels of experience. Lots of conversation and lively exchange along with tips for retaining grammar, and exploring culture and literature. Weekend en Espaol also offers weekend workshops and even travel related Spanish immersion. Highly recommended!

This school is absolutely amazing -- in 6 months, I went from being a bare beginner (having had one year of college Spanish 30 years ago) to a high intermediate, able to understand a great deal and communicate well enough to get around on my own in Mexico. The key was that I took a lot of classes as well as several of the total immersion retreats but I didn't do ANY extra studying outside of these courses.

I've studied Spanish off and on since I was in sixth grade, and can travel speaking Spanish well enough. But now, through Weekend, I feel I am consolidating what I've learned and moving forward, instead of just falling back on what I know. Ronda makes it fun, and has lots of tricks to learn things. You can do as much or as little homework as you want, so its suitable for someone who is busy.

Effective! Experienced & flexible teacher with great tools & short cuts & varied classroom exercises. I'm improving rapidly. Have also taken good classes at CCSF but Weekend En Espanol's small group instruction & cut-to-the-core language acquisition tools make a difference.

Ronda is a very skilled teacher. She is thorough and uses a variety of techniques. There is much to learn just by reading the lessons on the walls. Ronda speaks slowly and clearly. I highly recommend her classes.

You will really learn at this school.
I took a series of Weekend Workshops here, and their methodology and technique are wonderful, the whole idea of Immersion without leaving the country is so smart and really effective, and if you want to travel they have Immersion programs in Oaxaca Mexico at this beautiful home. This place is like a family, i'm so glad I found them. ??Gracias, WEEKEND en espa??ol!

Rhonda is an excellent teacher who tailors each class to the needs of the students. She teaches the nuances of the language and has tips and explanations that really help things stick. As an intermediate/advanced learner she has really helped me understand the structure and use of the subjunctive, and there's lots of conversation so you can practice, practice, practice. It not just the teacher, but the classmates who make an experience great. I've met many interesting and engaged students and look forward to my class each week.

I have had an incredible experience with Ronda and Weekend en Espanol. I was new to Spanish just 10 weeks ago. I have been taking the Wednesday night classes, 1.5 hours each session. After ten weeks I am already speaking at a higher level than other people who took a few years of Spanish in high school / college.

The speaking and immersion-based learning program makes me learn at an incredibly rapid pace. As an added bonus, it is much more fun than reading a textbook or studying flash cards.

I was very timid when I began, but the friendly staff (and other students I have had in class from time to time) have made it a very welcoming experience.

If you are thinking about getting back into Spanish, or need to learn the language for a trip / vacation, this is the way to do it. You will learn uber-fast!

I had an amazing experience with Ronda in the 2 day weekend Medical Spanish workshop. The class was small and intimate, making it feel more like a private lesson than a workshop and Ronda has some really great teaching techniques. She is flexible and listens to what you need as a learner. I had a pretty decent understanding of Spanish grammar and have been using it in the workplace for years, however she managed to break me of some long time errors and cleared up confusion about hard to grasp concepts. I quadrupled my medical vocabulary and the binder she provided us is full of useful words, phrases, and realistic scenarios pertinent to the medical field. Bonus points for feeding us yummy lunch everyday!

I have been wanting to learn Spanish for years. I tried Rosetta Stone and it just did not work for me, I have zero discipline. I get totally engaged in my classes and they go by so quick I am always surprised when it is time to go. Ronda is a wonderful teacher, so really knows how to teach. I looked into many other classes and found Weekend en Espanol offered more types of classes and reasonable prices. I am really hoping to do a full immersion weekend and am so glad they offer it. i have only been going for a few weeks but I can already grasp the basics, and of course count to 100 ; 0 ) . I look forward to my Wednesday class and enjoy learning with Ronda, she is also a super cool person.

For anyone looking to pick up where you left off after college to a total beginner I would recommend Ronda at Weekend en espanol, you will not be disappointed.

I let my Spanish get wayyyy too rusty. It's always been a goal of mine to get as close to fluency in Spanish as possible and I figured it was time to put my money where my mouth is!

I signed up about a month ago and hope to never stop taking classes!

Ricardo is an awesome teacher, really funny. I love that the class is conversation-based because I feel like that's the hardest part to get. I feel like the program also understands that most students are working adults so the workload isn't intense (but I'm sure it could be if you wanted to fast track!).

All in all, why are you waiting? Sign up today!

I've been taking classes here with Ronda for some months now and my confidence in speaking Spanish has really grown in that time. Ronda is a good and experienced teacher and has been able to explain certain grammatical concepts in a way that is easy for English speakers to understand. Classes are organic and interesting. Ronda doesn't drill you but encourages you to speak and think about a wide range of topics Spanish. I look forward to improving my Spanish further.

I first learned about Weekend en Espanol (WeE) when they were hired by the UCSF School of Nursing dean to teach medical Spanish to grad students. I now understand why. I'm a month into an intermediate class and find that Ms. Calef has developed systems for the easy remembering of irregular verb conjugations and other effective systems to approach language learning. I'm advancing rapidly as a consequence of this and her easy-going teaching style. Class is fun. I hesitated signing up because the cost is high. However, now that I'm a month in I see these classes are great value. Highly recommended!
